Every tracked chain’s public prices are collected daily. A few minutes a week on the Fix list shows which gaps to close first.
Six are new and carry a New badge for your first 30 days. Rivals are lettered on every page, in every export and in every alert.
Your weekly starting point. Where your index moved, this week’s moves (up to three), rival cuts on your key items, the fixes that landed, how shoppers see your prices and what your changes achieved so far. Share on WhatsApp sends the same summary to your team, with rivals as letters.
One tile per aisle. Size is how many items you share with other chains; colour is your typical gap: green cheaper, amber level, red dearer. Click a tile for its shelves, a shelf for its items. Compare with recolours the map against one rival. Every item says how it was matched (by barcode, by name and size, or by photo check) and when its price was read. Wrong match? takes a bad pairing, such as a gallon against a bottle, out of your figures; Undo brings it back.
What to change and what it is worth. Every item shoppers see as Hold Off, key items first, with a target one dollar under the Hold Off line. “Aisles to fix first” ranks aisles by J$ over target; This week’s moves (up to three) are the shortest to-do. Add all sends an aisle to your repricing list. Upload item costs and each fix shows your margin now and at the target, with a flag when the target is below cost. Fixes that would need a cut of more than 35% are listed under Check these matches: that usually means two sizes were matched, so report any that are wrong. Check source under your price opens the page it was read from; where a store has no page per item, search its online shop for the code shown.
| Aisle | You | Rival A | Rival B | Leader |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| KVIs | 7% | 11% | 41% | Rival B |
| Bakery | 40% | 2% | 21% | You |
| Alcohol | 7% | 23% | 24% | Close race |
How each rival prices. Who sets the low in each aisle (the key-items row first; Close race when the top two are within 3 points), which weekday they move, rises versus cuts in one sentence, and battleground items you can Watch or Fix. Each row shows how many price changes it rests on; a chain with fewer than 20 reads “Too few changes” rather than a pattern.
Your price index. Your prices against the market on the items five or more chains sell, each counted equally, for all items and for your key items, with your rank, the weekly change in points, and where you would land at Fix list targets. Open the Key-item scorecard any time.
| Item | Rivals | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Eve Corned Beef 198 g | 7 | J$399–498 |
| Easter Bun 35 oz | 6 | J$1,215–1,409 |
What rivals sell that we didn’t find in your range. Items three or more rivals stock, with their price range, by aisle. Worth a look rather than a verdict: you may sell some under another name. Hide items you have chosen not to carry. When a gap matches one of your own listings by brand and item, it says You may stock this; We sell this hides it and tells us to fix the match. Download the rest as CSV for range planning.
Rival cuts lists price drops in the last 7 days on items you sell and spots promotions (3+ same-day cuts); Same price at counts other rivals already at that price. Repricing list is your saved list, sent on WhatsApp or as CSV with brand and barcode, with cost upload for margins; the costs you loaded are listed there and can be removed. Alerts start with rival cuts on your key items from the latest daily update, then your aisle alerts, checked after every daily update. Items you watch from the playbook are listed under Items you watch. Alerts show here in the dashboard.
Your flyer in the shopper apps’ Home banner. Under Promotions in the sidebar. Drop in a banner graphic, choose the first day (we fill in a 7-day week) and send it for review; we check it, usually within a day. It shows on its first day in the Home banner of the BuyersMarket app and web app, labelled Featured partner, to every shopper, and comes down after its last day. Each campaign says Live, Scheduled, In review, Not approved (with the reason) or Ended. A view is one shopper seeing your banner in an app session; a tap is a shopper opening it. Make the graphic 1200 × 450 px (JPG or PNG) and keep text and logos inside the middle 1080 × 390 px; keep the top-left 400 × 120 px clear for the Featured partner label. Other sizes are refused with the reason; Download the template on the upload panel has the safe area marked, and the panel shows your graphic on a phone and on the web before you send it. The banner holds 5 flyers a week. Example figures shown.
Your weekly flyer's prices in the app, free. In In-app flyers → Flyer prices, upload this week's flyer (a PDF or photos of the pages, up to 12) and its sale dates. We read every printed price and match each item to one you sell. You check the list: Ready items are matched, Choose the item needs you to pick between sizes, Add the price is an item we couldn't read a price for, and Not in our catalog items aren't published. Press Publish prices and they show at once for the sale dates, marked “Flyer price, until 9 Nov”, rated A, B or C against other chains; prices far from the item's usual price wait for our check, usually within a day. The day after the sale your regular prices come back. Shoppers see the week on a This week at page with Add to list; a banner campaign can open it. The report counts, during the sale, banner views and taps, deals-page views, items added to shopping lists and trips planned at your stores. Published prices also appear in other chains' dashboards, like any store price. Example figures shown.
Pick one morning a week and keep to it. The Rival playbook shows which day each rival usually changes prices.
The dashboard opens here: your numbers, the week’s moves as a checklist, and what changed. New? Choose Take the tour in the menu, or press ? on any page, for a two-minute walkthrough. Add all on the Fix list sends an aisle to your repricing list at target.
Top rows are the widest gaps: your price, the cheapest rival, the target.
Who is cutting, who is raising, who moves on which day. Watch a most-repriced item.
Send on WhatsApp or Download CSV for the store team. Mark items done.
Next morning: “Fixed this month” counts up and This week lists the fixes that landed; the tile moves to green and your index moves.
Shoppers see Hold Off above 15% over the cheapest rival. The target sits one dollar under that line: shoppers see Fair Price again and you keep every dollar of margin you can. Go to the cheapest rival’s price only if you choose to.
Every chain’s price on one line, cheapest on the left; you are the gold dot. One dot far left is one rival undercutting you, maybe briefly. Every dot left of you is a real gap.
The index is your typical price gap to the market across the basket. The weekly change is in points: “+0.6 pts since last week” means the gap widened by 0.6 of a point. Every item counts the same in the index, and the weekly change compares the same items both weeks, so marking a key item never shows up as a price change. The key-items index is the same measure over your key items only. A chain needs 100 basket items (30 key items) to be ranked. The basket total in J$ on the Market index page is context only: the index weights every item equally.
Six branches never count six times. A “price change” is a change in a chain’s closing price from one day to the next, so same-day blips do not count. Government survey prices only check our data; they are never a competitor.
A rating next to your price. The Fix list exists to move your items off C.
At or within 2% of the cheapest other chain, or well below its usual price.
Above the cheapest chain, but by no more than 15%.
More than 15% above the cheapest other chain. Shoppers may wait or buy elsewhere.
Your figures are never shown to another chain by name, and theirs are never shown to you. The letters are fixed for your account, assigned by how much range you share, so Rival B stays Rival B. Exports, share text and alerts use the letters too.
A key item (KVI, Known Value Item) is one of the few hundred staples shoppers price-check in their heads: rice, flour, chicken, cooking oil, bread. The default list comes from Jamaica’s most-bought groceries; add or remove items from the Fix list and the change applies to your whole chain.
Daily. Every page shows when prices were last read. Figures are daily-updated, not real-time, and come from each chain’s public listings.
Matching the cheapest chain on everything gives margin away. Shoppers only see Hold Off above 15% over the cheapest rival, so the target sits one dollar under that line. The cheapest rival’s price is always beside it.
A rival’s habits only show after enough daily reads. Until every chain has 20 observed days the heatmap stays hidden, and a note says how many days there are so far. Rivals with too few price changes, aisles with too few items, and an index trend under four weeks are left out the same way.
It is the typical (median) item-by-item gap on items you share with other chains, not an average of all your prices. Items only you sell, and pack-size mismatches, are left out.
No. Your account only shows your own chain; your repricing list, alerts, watches, key-item changes, dismissed gaps and costs are visible to your account alone.
Only items another chain also sells are compared, using prices listed on your website or storefront. If something important is missing, email us.
Open Market index → Basket items, find the item and choose I carry this. Pick your own listing if we suggest it (we may have missed the match), or enter your shelf price. It counts in your figures straight away, marked “Reported”, and lapses after 30 days unless you report it again. Shoppers and other retailers see it only after we have checked it.
Campaigns are free while BuyersMarket launches: each comes with its views-and-taps report and an agreed minimum of views. After that a week in the banner is J$25,000, or J$20,000 if you use the dashboard. Send us your logo, the deal and a photo or two and we can design the banner for you, from J$15,000. Email save@buyersmarket.app.
The repricing list, the range gaps and the market-index basket (Market index → Basket items) download as CSV; the repricing list can be sent on WhatsApp; the key-item scorecard opens as a printable page. PDF report on This week or Market index opens a printable report of the week; choose “Save as PDF” in the print dialog. For a data feed, contact us.
